Wildlife Sounds
From an early age I have always been fascinated by the sounds of nature and wildlife from bird song, the calls of mating frogs in the early spring to the roar of the rutting deer in the autumn. I have recently invested in some sound recording equipment and have started to explore creating wildlife sound clips.
Here are just a few of our wildlife sounds clips. We will add some more as they are recorded.
The sound of Wigeon calling. Recorded at the Suffolk Wildlife Trust Lackford Lakes Nature Reserve on 22nd November 2024 from Bess's Hide. The recording was made using a Telinga PRO-X V.2 parabolic dish with a Telinga STEREO MK3 microphone and a Tascam FR-AV2 32-Bit Field Recorder.
Bird sounds from RSPB Havergate Island, Suffolk. Recorded on 2nd November 2024. You can hear the calls of Wigeon, Redshank and Grey Plovers amongst others feeding on the Lagoon near the Main Hide. The recording was made using a Telinga PRO-X V.2 parabolic dish with a Telinga STEREO MK3 microphone and a Zoom F3 32-Bit Field Recorder.
The wonderful sound of the Nightingale singing. Recorded at the Suffolk Wildlife Trust Black Bourn Valley Nature Reserve. This was at the car park on a really still day and all I had with me was my Samsung S10 smartphone. As the Nightingale was so close in a tree just 2 meters away the sound quality is actually quite good.
Male Common frogs in our wildlife pond calling for a mate. To us the sound that spring is on the way! Recorded using a Røde VideoMic NTG microphone directly into my MacBook Pro.
A Grey Squirrel calling whilst eating an acorn at the Suffolk Wildlife Trust Lackford Lakes Nature Reserve, Suffolk, UK. Recorded using a Røde VideoMic NTG microphone on my Canon EOS R5 DSLR camera.
The sound of a Common Pipistrelle Bat. Recorded flying around our Suffolk garden using a Magenta Bat 5 Bat Detector.
